Welcome to Manna! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Manna mobile application (the “App”) and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, DO NOT USE THE APP.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the App, you:

Agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy
Represent that you are at least 13 years of age
Represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
Agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations

2. Description of Service

Manna is a mobile application that provides:

Access to multiple Bible translations
Structured reading plans for daily Bible study
Progress tracking and streak monitoring
Personal notes and verse highlighting
Reading reminders and notifications
Premium features via optional subscription

Content Provided

The Bible text and translations provided in the App are:

Licensed from authorized publishers or in the public domain
Subject to copyright restrictions specified by each translation
Provided for personal, non-commercial use only

3. Account Registration and Security

Account Creation

To use certain features, you must:

Provide a valid email address
Create a secure password
Provide your full name for personalization

Account Security

You are responsible for:

Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
All activities that occur under your account
Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach

We reserve the right to:

Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms
Require password changes for security purposes
Limit access to features if account integrity is compromised

4. User Content

Your Notes and Highlights

When you create notes or highlights in the App:

You retain all ownership rights to your content
You grant us a license to store and display your content within the App
Your content remains private and is not shared with other users
You are responsible for backing up important content

Prohibited Content

You may not create content that:

Violates any law or regulation
Infringes on intellectual property rights
Contains harmful, offensive, or inappropriate material
Impersonates any person or entity
Contains malicious code or viruses

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use

Permitted Use

You may use the App for:

Personal Bible reading and study
Tracking your spiritual growth
Creating private notes and reflections
Participating in reading plans

Prohibited Use

You may NOT:

Copy, distribute, or republish Bible translations without permission
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the App
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
Use the App for commercial purposes without permission
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Impersonate other users or provide false information

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Premium Features

Some features require a paid subscription:

Subscriptions are processed through your device’s app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store)
Subscription terms and pricing are displayed at the time of purchase
Premium features may include: reading plans, translations, offline access, and ad-free experience
Features requiring a paid subscription can change any time without notice

Billing

Recurring Charges: Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled
Pricing: Prices are subject to change with 30 days notice
Payment Methods: Managed by your app store account
Taxes: You are responsible for applicable taxes

Cancellation and Refunds

Cancel Anytime: Manage subscriptions through your app store settings
No Refunds: Payments are non-refundable except as required by law
Prorated Refunds: Not available for partial subscription periods
Access After Cancellation: Premium features remain available until the end of the current billing period

Free Trials

Free trials may be offered for premium subscriptions
You will be charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel
One free trial per user
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue free trials

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions:

Purchase information is processed through RevenueCat
RevenueCat’s terms and privacy policy also apply

7. Intellectual Property Rights

Our Ownership

We or our licensors own all rights to:

The App design, code, and functionality
Manna branding, logos, and trademarks
App content, features, and design elements
Aggregated and anonymized usage data

Bible Translations

Bible translations are owned by their respective publishers
Each translation has specific copyright and usage terms

Bible Translation Attributions

The App provides access to the following Bible translations with proper attribution:

King James Version (KJV)

Scripture quotations from the King James Version are in the public domain in the United States.

New International Version (NIV)

The NIV text may be quoted in any form (written, visual, electronic or audio), up to and inclusive of five hundred (500) verses without express written permission, providing the verses quoted do not amount to a complete book of the Bible nor do the verses quoted account for twenty-five percent (25%) or more of the total text of the work in which they are quoted.

New Living Translation (NLT)

Scripture quotations marked (NLT) are taken from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation, copyright ©1996, 2004, 2015 by Tyndale House Foundation. Used by permission of Tyndale House Publishers, Carol Stream, Illinois 60188. All rights reserved.

The NLT text may be quoted in any form (written, visual, electronic, or audio), up to and inclusive of five hundred (500) verses without express written permission, provided the verses quoted do not amount to a complete book of the Bible nor do the verses quoted account for more than twenty-five percent (25%) of the work in which they are quoted.

Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

Download and use the App on your personal devices
Access Bible content for personal, non-commercial use
Use App features in accordance with these Terms

This license does not permit you to:

Sublicense, sell, or distribute the App
Modify, adapt, or create derivative works
Remove copyright or proprietary notices

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services:

Service Providers

Supabase: Backend infrastructure and database hosting
RevenueCat: Subscription management and payment processing
PostHog: Analytics and usage tracking
Sentry: Error monitoring and crash reporting

Third-Party Terms

Your use of these services is subject to:

Their respective terms of service and privacy policies
Our integration and use of these services on your behalf
Any limitations or restrictions they impose

We are not responsible for:

Third-party service availability or performance
Changes to third-party services or pricing
Third-party data handling practices (see our Privacy Policy)

9. Analytics and Data Collection

We collect usage data to improve the App:

PostHog Analytics: Tracks feature usage and user behavior
Sentry Error Tracking: Monitors crashes and technical issues
Anonymization: Analytics data is anonymized where possible
Opt-Out: You may limit analytics through app settings

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.

No Warranty

We disclaim all warranties, including:

Merchantability: Fitness for a particular purpose
Accuracy: Correctness or completeness of content
Availability: Uninterrupted or error-free service
Security: Complete protection against unauthorized access
Results: Any specific outcomes from using the App

Use at Your Own Risk

You acknowledge that:

Bible translations may contain errors or variations
App features may have bugs or limitations
Data loss may occur due to technical issues
Your device and internet connection affect App performance

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

No Liability for Damages

We are not liable for:

Indirect Damages: Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
Consequential Damages: Damages resulting from App use or inability to use
Incidental Damages: Unexpected or unintended damages
Punitive Damages: Damages intended to punish

Maximum Liability

Our total liability to you for all claims is limited to:

The amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or
$100 USD, whichever is greater

Exceptions

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for:

Personal injury
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
Gross negligence or willful misconduct

In these cases, our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Manna, its owners, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

Your use or misuse of the App
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of any third-party rights
Your user-generated content (notes, highlights)
Your violation of applicable laws

This indemnification survives termination of these Terms.

13. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to:

Modify Features: Add, change, or remove App features
Update Content: Add or remove Bible translations
Change Pricing: Adjust subscription prices with notice
Discontinue Service: Suspend or terminate the App

Notice of Changes

For significant changes:

We will provide reasonable notice via email or in-app notification
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
You may terminate your account if you disagree with changes

14. Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time:

Notice: Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification
Effective Date: Changes take effect on the “Last Updated” date
Acceptance: Continued use constitutes acceptance of updated Terms
Right to Terminate: You may delete your account if you disagree with changes

We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

You may terminate your account at any time by:

Uninstalling the App

Our Right to Terminate

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

You violate these Terms
You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
Your account is inactive for an extended period
We discontinue the Service

Effects of Termination

Upon termination:

Your access to the App will be revoked
Your account data may be deleted
Premium subscriptions will remain active until the current period ends
No refunds will be provided for remaining subscription time
These Terms survive termination where applicable

16. Dispute Resolution

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your State/Country], without regard to conflict of law principles.

Informal Resolution

Before filing a legal claim:

Arbitration Agreement

17. General Provisions

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Manna regarding the App.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable:

The remaining provisions remain in full effect
The invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary

No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.

Assignment

You: May not transfer your rights under these Terms
Us: May assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale

Force Majeure

We are not liable for failures or delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including:

Natural disasters
Government actions
Internet outages
Third-party service failures

18. Apple App Store Terms

If you download the App from the Apple App Store:

These Terms are between you and Manna, not Apple
Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance
Apple is not responsible for the App or content
Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms
You must comply with Apple’s App Store Terms of Service

19. Google Play Store Terms

If you download the App from Google Play:

These Terms are between you and Manna, not Google
Google has no obligation to provide support or maintenance
Google is not responsible for the App or content
You must comply with Google’s Play Store Terms of Service

20. Open Source

The App may include open-source software components:

These components are subject to their respective licenses
Open-source licenses are available in the App or upon request
We comply with all open-source license obligations

21. Accessibility

We strive to make the App accessible to all users:

We follow accessibility best practices
We welcome feedback on accessibility improvements

22. Age Restrictions

The App is not intended for children under 13:

Users must be at least 13 years old
Parental consent may be required for users under 18 (depending on jurisdiction)
We will delete accounts of users found to be under 13

23. Copyright Infringement

If you believe content in the App infringes your copyright:

Provide: Your contact information, description of copyrighted work, location of infringing content, and a statement of good faith belief
We will investigate and respond according to applicable law

24. Government Use

If you are a government entity:

The App is “Commercial Computer Software”
Use is subject to these Terms
Government rights are limited as specified by applicable regulations

BY USING Manna, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF SERVICE.
